SLOWING Our hearts for advent(and a free book!)
Sister Miriam said, "Women's hearts will be healed by Our Lady." And I agree.
What happens in our hearts matters.
You know, the enemy goes after the heart of a woman.
He began with Eve in the garden...and he has not stopped the attack. If he can get rid of women, he rids the earth of life.
And is it just me, or does the attack ramp up during the Advent season?
Before we light the first Advent candle, the attack has already begun.
How does he attack women?
With distraction.
What distracts you this time of year?
Shopping?
Baking?
Decorating?
Drinking?
Overeating?
Maybe you are distracted by good things. Even holy things...new devotionals, journals, Bible Studies...
The secular world wants us to feel like we need to DO EVERYTHING...for our own glory; we feel purposeful, and prideful when we accomplish all the things (perfectly decorated home, homemade cookies with Christmas music in the background, gingerbread houses with the kids, beautifully wrapped piles of packages under the tree, Pinterest worthy Christmas Card...)
But Scripture says we need to DO EVERYTHING FOR THE GLORY OF GOD. (1 COR 10:31)
Sadly, the Tempter calls out our "inner Martha" during Advent, turning this penitential season into a festival of anxiety.
If you are looking to slow your heart down by eliminating distraction this Advent, in a way that doesn't involve adding fifteen more spiritual practices to your already full plate, only to set you up for failure...
We will be walking through Advent with Our Lady.
She will teach us how to slow our hearts and focus on what truly matters.
